“Before and After” Personal Color Advice

Who doesn’t like easy and effective “makeovers”? It is just great to see how simple changes can make a huge difference in our appearance. Changing hair color, or choosing different colors for makeup or wardrobe pieces can make a world of difference in how people perceive you.

Take a look at the pictures below and see how impactful the results of an accurate color analysis can be. The ladies in the pictures asked me for color advice and used my recommendations to change the way they look. Just like most women, they wanted to understand how to use the right colors to enhance their natural beauty.

By way of explanation, I practice a very accurate 12-season color analysis approach, whereby I assess people’s “types” and assign a specific season to them such as “warm spring”, “cool summer” and so forth.

The pictures shown are from real people who gave me their consent to post their “before and after” pictures.

Shady is a Cool summer

Shady always thought she was some sort of a “Winter” tyoe. She thus went for the bright and highly saturated colors of the winter color palette for makeup, hair and clothes as you can see in the “before” pictures. Those colors are too bright on her. What jumps out at you is the lipstick and the bright colored t-shirt. The colors are overpowering.

In the “after” picture Shady is wearing more subdued colors from the Summer color palette and a slightly lighter hair color. The first thing you notice is how her face glows. She is wearing the colors that bring out her natural beauty.

Shady wrote this to me: “I did an online analysis with you. You sent me results I was not expecting. I started playing with hair dye when I was really young and often dyed my hair a bit darker than my natural ash medium brown. I have denim blue eyes and I was always sure I was a Winter! I kept looking through the winter color palette and just knowing I would look so washed out! So I have been dabbling in the cool summer palette and I couldn’t believe it. I added a cool ash brown to my hair to see if I’d like it. I can’t believe I feel lighter and fresher in these colors. Thank you so much for your help”.

Melissa is a Soft Summer

Melissa contacted me because she wasn’t sure about her hair color. She used to color her hair golden blonde which is clearly a warm color. As a soft summer type she should avoid colors that are too warm or too bright. I advised her to try ash blonde which resonates much better with her cool skin undertone.

Melissa commented: “This really resonates with me!

I’ve been coloring my hair golden blonde for 15 years. I changed my hair color from a golden blonde to an ash blonde based on your color analysis 🙂 I am going to take a few more tips from your guide and experiment with it. I will take your advice 🙂

Thank you again for your help – I’ve referred a couple of friends to your site after they complimented me on my new look”.

Pat is a Light Spring

Can you see the difference between the effect of the dark and cool color Melissa is wearing on the left and the light, warm color she is wearing on the right? As a Light Spring, Pat needs to avoid dark and cool colors close to her face since these colors make her face look washed out. Light and slightly warmer colors on the other hand will make Pat’s face glow.

Pat had this experience: “ I am getting so many compliments! Thank you for all your input!”
